Ringhof's music is a warm exploration and a twilight experience in equal measure. He lends rough, solitary landscapes an abstract musical habitat. It is a constant engagement in which the experiences and feelings of a particular place shape the tonality, dramaturgy and chronology of his work.
On his full-length album Nallo, the bare Swedish polar region served as the guiding force behind the music's atmosphere and artistic process. Its seven compositions, built from dense layers and loose patterns, portray the gigantic and the intimate at once: the scale of a tremendous wilderness and the shelter of something home-like within it.
His latest long-form release invites the listener on an immersive journey crafted entirely with the legendary EMS Synthi AKS synthesiser, paired only with a selection of effect pedals. Forgoing the convenience of a full production setup, an audio workstation was used solely for recording, arrangement and mastering, leaving the raw character of the instrument at the centre. The result is an organic voyage into the depths of sound, where melancholy and solitude intertwine. A listening experience and a testament to the EMS Synthi AKS and the artistry of its creators.
